Browser cookie settings for Site Meter

You'll need to make sure that cookies are enabled in your browser to login to your account on Site Meter. Or, if you are just having trouble with Site Meter remembering your login codename and password, you'll need to check your cookie settings to make sure they are enabled. Follow these steps to enable "Cookies" in your browser.

  1. Firefox 1.X
  2. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.X (Windows)
  3. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.X (Windows)
  4. Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.x (Windows, Macintosh)
  5. Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X (Windows)

Firefox 1.X
  1. In your browser, select Options… from the Tools menu.
  2. Click on Privacy.
  3. Click on the expand symbol next to "Cookies".
  4. Make sure "for the originating web site only" is NOT checked.
  5. Press the "Exceptions" button.
  6. If sitemeter.com and www.sitemeter.com are not in the site list with "Allow" as their status, enter them in the address field and press the "allow" button.
  7. Press the "OK" button to close the dialog and press the "OK" button to close the other dialog window.


Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.X (Windows)
  1. In your browser, select Internet Options… from the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Make sure the slider is not set to "Block All Cookies".
If you are still having problems getting Site Meter to remember your login information, you may need to add Site Meter to your list of sites that can use cookies.
  1. In your browser, select Internet Options… from the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Click on the "Edit..." button for web sites.
  4. Enter "sitemeter.com" into the "Address of website:" field.
  5. Click on the "Allow" button.
  6. Click on the OK to close the "Per Site Privacy Actions" window.
  7. Click on the "Advanced..." button.
  8. If "Override automatic cookie handling" is checked, make sure "Accept" is selected for "First-party cookies"
  9. Click on the OK to close the "Advanced Privacy Options" window.
  10. Click on the OK to close the "Internet Options" window.


Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.X (Windows)
  1. In your browser, select Internet Options… from the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click the Custom Level… button, then scroll down to the "Cookies" section.
  4. Click Enable for "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer."
  5. Click Enable for "Allow per-session cookies (not stored)."
  6. Click on the OK to close the "Custom Level" window.
  7. Click on the OK to close the "Internet Options" window.
  1. In addition, you may need to make Site Meter a "trusted" site.
  2. In your browser, select Internet Options… from the Tools menu.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click on "Trusted Sites".
  5. Click on the "Sites..." button.
  6. Enter "http://www.sitemeter.com/" into the "Add this website to the zone" field.
  7. Click on the "Add" button.
  8. Click on the OK to close the "Trusted Sites" window.
  9. Click on the OK to close the "Internet Options" window.


Netscape Navigator/Communicator 4.x (Windows, Macintosh)
  1. Select Preferences… from the Edit menu.
  2. Click "Advanced" in the menu on the left.
  3. Click on "Accept all cookies" in the lower half of the window.
  4. Click OK.


Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X (Windows)
  1. In your browser, select Internet Options… from the View menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. Scroll down to the "Security" section.
  4. Click enable for "Always accept cookies."
  5. Click on the OK to close the window.
